The Christmas season is just around the corner and everyone is busily getting ready for all that the season has to offer by decorating, shopping, preparing seasonal treats and making plans to spend time with family and friends.
The Christmas season always brings with it much joy and happiness to our school. We know that students and their families often enjoy sharing gifts with many staff at school over the holiday season as a way to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the nurturing and care we provide your children on a daily basis. We gratefully appreciate these heartfelt gifts and genuine expressions of appreciation. However, we would like to make a suggestion to families to help ‘pay it forward’ and help many others in the true spirit of Christmas.
Many of you are aware that our Vice Principal, Dianna Petrie, is away from school this year so she can provide support for her son, Jacob Seguin, who was diagnosed with cancer last spring. Jacob has been receiveing treatment for his cancer at Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto and is doing very well. While Jacob and Dianna are receiving treatment, they often stay at Ronald McDonald House in Toronto. We are all grateful for the care and treatment both Jacob and Dianna have received at these two world-class facilities.
Therefore, with that in mind, in lieu of giving gifts to staff at BPS this year, we ask that you consider making a donation the the Sick Kids Hospital Foundation (https://www.sickkidsfoundation.com/) or Ronald McDonald House Charities (https://www.rmhc.org/). These donations can be made in the names of Jacob Seguin and Dianna Petrie on behalf of the entire BPS community.
This gift of giving will impact many children and familes and be a true gesture in the spirit of Christmas.
