Fleming College hosts Skilled Trade and Tech Days for students

On October 23 and 24, 100 students from Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) secondary schools attended the Skilled Trades and Tech Days for Young Women, in partnership with Skills Ontario and Fleming College.

The initiative, which took place at the college’s Peterborough and Lindsay campuses, provided students with the opportunity to explore a variety of skilled trade and technology careers through hands-on learning experiences of the programs being offered at the campuses.

In Peterborough, students participated in activities related to plumbing, carpentry, and mechatronics trades. In Lindsay, they planted seeds, blasted rock, drilled holes, and climbed trees to experience a taste of the horticultural technician, surface blaster, arborist, and horizontal directional drilling trades.
